By virtually every indicator, Montréal’s quality of life excels. From the trendy to the more conventional, from historical treasures to modern avant-garde, everything is linked by the Métro, Montréal’s clean and efficient subway and public transportation system. The Métro connects downtown to suburbs in all directions, as well as to numerous bus lines and commuter train networks.

In the centre core, there is Montréal’s unique underground city, with 30 kilometres of tunnels that link together the transit system, office buildings, stores, restaurants as well as many residential buildings. Cycling enthusiasts enjoy 350 kilometres of bicycle paths, one of the most extensive, such systems of  in North America.

Montréal is a safe and secure place to live and work, with little crime and a very clean natural environment.

Housing, whether for purchase or rent, is priced competitively when compared to other major centres. On all budgets, international organization staff lives very well in Montréal.

A dynamic metropolis, Montréal is alive day and night, all year round. Montréal boasts an exuberant cultural scene where the arts are an integral part of people's everyday lives. The city’s downtown is located close to Mount Royal Park, the highest spot in the city (234m)and whose 101 hectares occupy much of the mountain. Montréal is also one of North America’s greenest cities, with more than 1000 parks covering 47 square kilometres of green space.
